A Kingfisher Airlines Airbus A320-232 VT-KFT performing flight IT 432 from Kolkata to Bangalore via Hyderabad veered and skidded off the runway at Bengaluru International Airport (BIA) due to rain and high winds.

There were 138 passengers including crew on board at the time of the incident, which happened at 21:35 hrs (16:05Z) yesterday.

An airline source informed PTI
"The aircraft landed at the edge of the runway. It went out of control and due to the impact bounced on the left side of the runway. Finally, it came to a halt after damaging some 10-12 runway lights,"
No one was injured in the incident.

Other sources inform that when the aircraft came to the parking bay, structural damage was found along with damage to all the four main wheels of the aircraft.

A spokesperson for the airport said
"After an aircraft landing, few runway lights were reported to be damaged. The runway was closed on April 19 between 22.35 pm and 23.23 pm for clearing the debris and replacing the lights"
